An all-PP pump still needs a package and line-compatibility review. ALPLA’s September 2026 announcement describes a mono-material foamer architecture whose neck fit, capping-head engagement, and dispensing performance must be qualified on the target bottling line.

What the announcement establishes

In its release dated 22 September 2026, ALPLA describes a metal-free polypropylene foam dispenser with a twistlock function. The company specifies a mass of 25 grams for the standard version and notes commercial production with anchor customers following pilot validation.

The release also describes customisation of the head and closure and the option to incorporate post-consumer recycled (PCR) material. Packaging Europe’s industry report summarizes the same technical specifications.

Identify which part the capper should drive

A dispensing head, a lock and the collar attached to the bottle can present different handling surfaces. Request the approved driving surface and tool clearance from ALPLA before specifying or modifying capping tooling.

Do not apply a torque setting for an older pump simply because the new collar looks similar. Request the neck-finish drawing, sealing design and assembly instructions for the actual variant. Ask whether the proposed tool can engage the collar while preserving the intended head and lock position.

Build the trial around the whole package

Review the pump with the intended bottle and product. Confirm the dip-tube arrangement, priming and dispensing acceptance method with the supplier rather than inferring output from the product name. Any assessment of product compatibility or pharmaceutical suitability requires formulation-specific qualification testing.

At the line, separate delivery and orientation, placement on the bottle, tightening and final functional checks. Record the first stage at which a problem appears. A head damaged by transfer tooling and a package that leaks after closure are different failures with different investigations.

Separate this functional check from fastening the collar. Agree the priming endpoint, actuation sequence and collection method with the supplier before evaluating output.

Use the questions below as a supplier qualification checklist to gather the engineering drawings and test protocols needed before line conversion.

Topic Question for the proposed variant Evidence to retain
Fit and seal Which bottle finish and sealing interface are approved? Paired drawings and revision references
Application What surface should be gripped, with what tooling and method? Application instructions and tool-clearance drawing
Dispensing How should priming, output and lock operation be evaluated? Defined method and agreed acceptance limits
Package integrity What conditioning and leakage checks cover the intended use? Package-specific protocol and results
Recycling Which market-specific evidence supports the intended claim? Assessment for the complete decorated package and relevant collection stream
Supply Which regions and variants are available now? Dated supplier confirmation

Treat ‘mono-material’ as a polymer-composition specification for the pump assembly, and evaluate recyclability across the complete decorated package—including bottle resin, label substrate, adhesive, and regional sorting stream requirements.

For the machine-side review, use capping machine selection. For measured opening behaviour, retain a defined torque test history. Continue in capping machinery.
